Lift the tent onto your crossbars (you'll need a friend or two) with the big end facing the back (the front of the tent shell is lower than the back).

Make sure the tent is positioned roughly where you want it. For SUVs and hatchbacks, open the trunk and push the tent back until it just touches the open trunk. This allows you to ensure that the tent does not interfere with the operation of your trunk.

Ready to install the kit.

     a. Insert the M8 bolts into the mounting plate (rail side up) and install the mounting U-brackets (concave side up). Then install a hex head bolt less than halfway down. Repeat three more times.

     b. Prepare the four M8 bolts and plate set by attaching the M8 bolts to the mounting plate. Repeat three more times.

Using the 4 original mounting kits with U-brackets, slide each mounting kit into the mounting rails, followed by the M8 bolts and plate set. Repeat for each corner of the tent.

Start with a partner in the front or rear and lift up to slide the mounting kit inside the crossbar.

Attach the mounting kit together by inserting the hanging M8 bolts into the mounting U-brackets and hand tightening the nuts onto the M8 bolts. Repeat for all four corners.

Tighten the nuts evenly and snugly, making sure you have lined up the tent exactly where you want it on the roof before tightening the nuts last.
